Exchange opportunities for international students

Internationality is one of the core principles of AMD Akademie Mode & Design. We place great emphasis on qualifying our graduates for the global fashion and design industries. Therefore, working with key international partners is important in the continued internationalization of AMD’s study programs.    

We welcome students from all over the world at AMD – as students from our partner universities or as freemovers. AMD offers study programs in German as well as in English. All programs are accredited by the state. Exchange students may register for courses up to 30 ECTS – the standard amount of ECTS for a semester. 

If you want to study at AMD as an exchange student, please contact your home university’s International Office.

How to apply as an exchange student

To apply as an exchange student at AMD, you will need the following documents: 

  • Application form for exchange students 
  • Official transcript from home university in German or English 
  • Proof of enrollment from home university for period of exchange 
  • Proof of language proficiency (at least English level B2 for our English-speaking study programs and German level B2 for our German-speaking study programs) 
  • Motivation letter (including list of academic goals and chosen courses) 
  • Portfolio (applicable to design students only – please provide a digital selection of 5 – 10 significant creative works) 
  • Recommendation letter 
  • Scan of passport or identity card & passport picture 
  • Scan of valid health insurance policy in German or English 
  • Visa (if applicable)
